April 18, 2024: At the Ramadan Night Markets in Lakemba, Sydney, Australia it’s all about the food. If you haven’t been to this market then I definitely recommend you take the plunge and broaden your cultural experience and your taste buds.

I don’t profess to know anything of the detail of the Ramadan month but I do know that it is a time to be generous with donations to the less well off in society. In the three years I have visited this night market I haven’t seen donations as such but I have seen and been the beneficiary of much generosity. 

In almost every photo I have taken, people are kindly smiling and freely allowing me to capture their actions and faces. They are flat out busy cooking and serving people but they always take the time to give me a smile and as a people photographer that’s something that I’m not always the beneficiary of.
